The Belebro Way hoof care is a method that uses a combination of, nutrition, exercise balance, lowering stress levels and Belebro Hoof Gel.
This method, The Belebro Way, promotes the healing process and helps the hooves recover.

Nutrition plays a crucial role in hoof health. Horses need a balanced diet to ensure healthy hoof growth. It is important to ensure adequate protein, vitamins and minerals in the horse’s diet.

Balanced exercise is an important factor in healthy hoof growth and development. Horses should get regular enough exercise so that the hoof mechanism (“the blood pump”) is stimulated regularly in a day which improves blood flow to the hooves. Regular exercise makes the hooves stronger. A Belebro horse-exerciser is an excellent tool to give the horses extra movement without stress (because of the way the horse-walkers are designed).

Stress has a negative impact on horses hoof health. It is important to provide a stress-free environment for the horse. This can be achieved by ensuring adequate exercise and distraction, and by limiting unnecessary stressors.

Finally, using Belebro Hoof Gel can help speed up the recovery process. Belebro Hoof Gel can be used to nourish and protect the hooves from outside influences which can help reduce discomfort and promote the recovery process.

Belebro Horsewalkers & Horse-exercisers

The most appropriate instrument to give horses a lot of good exercise is the horse exerciser in which the horses run without being tethered.

BELEBRO, specialist with the most experience!
Since 1986

The horse exerciser is an invention of Belebro. The Belebro model guarantees the most balanced construction, the least load, the least wear and tear and the greatest safety for the horses. The design is registered and internationally protected by law (WIPO no. DM/018398, 21 Dec. 1990).
Five factors can be trained that, according to research by the Research Station for Horse Husbandry in Lelystad, determine the performance:

Character: focused tempo training, whereby horses sometimes go to their utmost.

Quality of the legs: short and intense stimuli (interval training) improves bone tissue.

Coordination: by applying alternating movements at different speeds.

Flexibility: less stiffness

Reflexes: improvement to a great extent: considerably less risk of injury.

Results
Research at the Testing Station for Horse Husbandry profession in Lelystad, the Netherlands, has shown that nutrients and exercise are the two factors that have the most influence on horses’ health and especially the quality of the legs.

  • Better muscle development, especially the back muscles
  • Higher performance
  • Fewer colic cases
  • Fewer leg problems
  • Fewer injuries
  • Less risk of atactic abnormalities (walking freely)
  • Reduction risk Osteochondrosis Dissecans (OCD) 60%
  • Reducing the risk of osteoarthritis

Stress-free walking is the precondition for achieving the intended results with a Horse exerciser. Horses must become familiar with the exerciser in the right way, so that they move relaxed (‘over the back’) in the horse exerciser.

The horse exercise, fence, soil and environment are decisive factors for this. Good hooves are also essential for the proper functioning of organs and the musculoskeletal system as a whole (joints, muscles and tendons in legs, back, neck).
